Leverne Costello Brown

Ms. Leverne Costello Brown age 65, of Whiteville passed away on December 30,2023 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care in Whiteville. Visitation will be Saturday January 6th,2024 from 2pm to 3pm at Divine's Memorial Chapel and after the funeral service.  A funeral service will be held on Sunday January 7,2024 at 1pm at Atkinson Temple Holiness Church in Whiteville. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bladenboro.

Leverne Costello Brown was born August 1, 1958 to the late Henry and Julia Hestine Brown in Whiteville, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her son, Marcus Brown; her sister, Sandra Brown and

her brother, Alonza Troy; her maternal grandparents Luther and Amanda Johnson and paternal grandparent, Susie Brown.

She received her education from the Columbus County Public Schools. She attended high school at West Columbus and graduated with a Certificate of Completion in 1978 from the Extended Day School, Whiteville, North Carolina.

“Costella” as she was affectionately known was deemed mischievous and full life by her peers and all whom came in contact with her. Small in stature but full of life and laughter. On any given date, she could take the “blues” and make a joke out it! Knowing the well-being of others, Keynoted and spoke to the person she was. She would always ask and inquire about how others were doing around her.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Linda Brown of Whiteville, North Carolina and Cynthia Brown of Greensboro, North Carolina and one brother, Jerome Crawford, of Raleigh, North Carolina. Three Aunts, Azzie Lee Johnson of Whiteville, North Carolina, Mander Marie Johnson of Lumberton, North Carolina and Darcus Gerald of Tabor City, North Carolina; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
